Tommy Empty

The scene opens... no, there is no scene, this is no act, this is no play. The sky is dark and rainy as Thomas Stone sits alone at a dinner, the overall mood is just as dark and moody as the weather outside. Tom is sitting at a booth, eating something that he obviously shouldn't be eating. A rather greasy looking plate of food is before him, he takes a bite of a burger and stares out the window. "Just can't seem to catch a break lately can I?" Tommy thought to himself, his coat is soaked, but that doesn't seem to be what's bothering him.

"Like an anchor eh?" the words that Anthony Caffrey had said resonated in his head like the ringing of a grand old bell. For a while Tom had been feeling like something was hanging above his head, haunting him. Tom looks down at his cup of coffee, with a look of disgust. "I don't even like coffee" Tommy muttered to himself as he took a small swig from the mug. For so long Tom had lived the gimmick as much as he could, to the point that it just eventually became his actual personality.

A part of him wanted to give up the business, regardless of what he wants people to believe, he's hurting. A multitude of injuries and just general wear and tear had left Tom's body a mess both physically and mentally. His wife was also pressuring him to leave the wrestling business, she knew that he was hurting. Tom clenched his fist, feeling the pain that came from it. The pain proved he was real and not some character made up in order to have an identity. Something that Tom had struggled with for all his life, was having an identity that set him apart from others. Even when he was little, he just kinda faded into the background.

The pain kept Tommy from simply fading away. "Just gotta stay relevant" Tom told himself over and over again in his head. Tom took another bite from his burger, the warm food felt revitalizing to him. He wasn't as old as people made him out to be, but he wasn't a young spring hen anymore. It wasn't a matter of actual age, but more of how old he felt. "Seems like it's raining more and more these days." Tommy mentioned as the diner hostess grunted in agreement as she refilled his coffee, much to his chagrin. She walks off without saying anything, leaving Tom alone with his thoughts as the storm picks up outside.

His world was once bright and promising, but was it spent properly? Did he do all he could in the time he had? These thoughts raced through his mind, his confidence was never lacking, but he was only human. Things like Twitter and Facebook were lost on him, but the new kids on the block seemed to be ruling them with no issue. Maybe it was time to pack it in, he had a great career, he was the world champ in two different companies, he'd carried a company on his back, and now he was left with an empty feeling. BFW was great, but something was still missing, but he just couldn't figure out what it was. Tommy eats some fries, but gags on the ridiculous amount of salt on them.

Tom looked into the black abyss of his coffee, the bitter taste was also a rather harsh hit of reality. Regardless of what he did, the world would keep spinning, the business would go on, and he would be but an afterthought. Tommy glares at the papers down on the table, his overall medical report after Vendetta. The results of his tests only reiterated the fact that he was hurting. Bruises and sprains were the least of his worries, on the top of the list was a destroyed left knee cap. He'd be lucky if he only had to use a cane for the rest of his life after he was done with wrestling. The world knew that his leg was bad, but had this information gotten out, it would have just left a huge target on him, something he already had plenty of.

It was however, too late to go back. Even if he stopped today, the damage was already done, something he'd come to terms with a long time ago. A part of him knew that he'd never give up wrestling without a fight. Tommy grins as he finishes his burger, the rains seems to be letting up. "A few more good match, and then I'll leave" Tommy thought to himself. "I just want one final amazing match, with an amazing opponent, then I'll leave my legacy to them."Tommy decided, the future was still gray, but maybe his past wouldn't hang on forever.
